AD INITIUM -- ANTEMORTEM

... There is truly no order to life these days. People jump from perfectly good airplanes, children are killed because of wars between two racial groups, elders are seen as burdens -- good only for insurance money or wills.

...death. It is inevitable. The work of those in the criminal justice field will never be slow, never run out. However, the world must ask the question: What makes a good investigator of the death?

... a strong stomach is one, but it goes so much further. You must seek out justice, to do whatever in your power to see that those that have been wronged are spoken for. A death investigator is the marriage between life and death.
...they are living gods.

And yet, they get the short end of the stick. A murderer does not think of the people who spend day after day pouring over near microscopic pieces of evidence. And after all that hard work, it is the Chief of Police that gets all the credit when the case is finally solved.

...but, perhaps we can learn what makes a good death investigator from those that examine it from both sides.

The Scientist and the Cop. A clash of brains and emotion.
Two people, two philosophies, one goal.

                # Attended Peking Union Medical College...
                #... received his Medical Degree (MD) with board certification in anatomic and forensic pathology.
                # Graduated "Egregia cum laude" from both Peking Union Medical College and John Hopkins University...
                # ...at the age of sixteen.
                # Celebrating his tenth year as the city's only pathologist.
                # President of the American Board of Forensic Anthropologists...
                #...also the youngest.
                # Lives in the basement under the police station, also where the morgue is located...
                # Lives vicariously through Wammy
                # Teaches future pathologists at the local university via web-cam.

Violence begets violence.

Is it the hostile working environment, the paranoid thoughts that someone is always out to get you? Or is it just pure and utter hatred that cause these two death investigators to go at each other's throats.

No one will know.

The only thing that enters the minds of others when the two enter the same room is to get the hell out of there.

...but, anger does not always appear with the flinging of words or glares.

...sometimes...it can be subtle.

These two investigators, with very different jobs, ideas, and thoughts, still work together for the good of the city.

... and through this, they have set a challenge for the other to accept or decline if they see fit.
